Thinking in Activity

The technique involves learning how to mindfully manage our movement patterns for healthy living. We explore these patterns and their redirection with simple guided movements in sitting and standing, walking, and lying down. The work is associated with principles rather than with exercises. The work empowers all to learn to make changes in their movement and thinking habits.

We also use the Dart Procedures, a developmental movement series outlined by Raymond Dart and constructed by Joan and Alex Murray. The sequence, when done with the principles of the Alexander Technique in mind, allows one self to slowly become present to mismatched movement patterns in activity.

Finally, we created Framework for Integration as a way to integrate information from Bartenieff Fundamentals, Laban Movement Analysis, Mindfulness, the Dart Procedures to provide the student with clear guidelines to make better decision in any activity - whether playing an instrument, doing yoga, exercising, or resting.
